Drakona is a quiet, traditional village in the province of Kissamos. It is located 27 km west of Chania and at an altitude of 70 m. The villagers are mainly engaged in agriculture, and their products are oil, grapes, wine, and citrus fruits. It is located at the base of the Rodopou peninsula and very close to the Gonia monastery, founded in the 9th century. Starting from Kolymvari, one can easily access world-famous attractions such as Balos beach, Gramvousa, Falassarna beach, Elafonisi beach, and the ruins of ancient Diktynna. The Kolymvari area has about 1,500 residents, and there are many services such as a bank, post office, buses, supermarket, pharmacy. You can enjoy the local cuisine at the excellent taverns by the sea, which are famous for their seafood.
