Kallithea is built on the top of a hill, northwest of Polemarchi. It owes its name to the enchanting view it offers from the Tavronitis river to the military airport of Maleme. It consists of 2 settlements: Kato Kallithea, where there is the “Pigada” (well) constructed before 1900, which supplied water to the whole village in the old days. The village’s main church, Saint Charalambos, is celebrated festively on February 10th with a traditional Cretan feast and treats for visitors in the church courtyard.
